things to see and do in florianopolis

Why Florianopolis? If you are planning a trip to Brazil, make Florianopolis a part of your itinerary. Located in the southern part of Brazil, this capital city of Sta. Catarina State has many wonderful offerings for tourists. Especially if you have a great love for the waters and want more than just a taste of adventure, you will most definitely enjoy a trip to Florianopolis.

Before hitting the beaches of Florianopolis, though, the Cathedral in Floripa is a good place to begin your day. Built around 1750, the Cathedral is as charming as it is magnificent. Its impressive architecture has been drawing crowds from all the world. The Cathedral is in fact every photographer’s dream as it provides a great background for pictorials.

Beyond the cathedral’s doors are 42 beaches, with coastlines that stretch for miles, delighting beach bums and surfers alike. Slice your body into the waters and swim with the dolphins – it’s an adventure that you will never ever forget in your lifetime.

If you love snowboarding, you can do that, too, at Joaquina Beach, except that you’ll be boarding on sand dunes, instead of snow. But it’s an experience that’s well worth your time, and one that’s really budget friendly. If you don’t have a board, you can rent one for just $1.50!

If windsurfing and jet skiing are more your thing, try Lagoa de Conceiao, the best place for such adventures. If you haven’t wind-surfed or jet-skied before, there are instructors there who can teach you the basics. The cost of the course is around $100 – might be a bit costly for some, but when it comes to your own safety, wouldn’t you be willing to spend some more?

Parachuting is another activity that can be enjoyed in Florianopolis, as is trekking.

Also good way to enjoy Florianopolis is to take boat trips around the island. You can rent boats that will take you around Florianopolis, and if you want to save some money, try visiting Florianopolis between the months of May and October when boat rentals are offered at a discount.

Surely you would need to eat and dine at Florianopolis. A good place to enjoy the island’s delectable dishes is Bar do Arante in Pantano do Sul or Southern Moore. Nowhere in Florianopolis can you taste seafood dishes as those offered in Bar do Arante. If you want authentic Brazilian cuisine, make sure to stop by Pirão da Ilha.
